Hayden Run Falls

One of the reasons I got into photography was to explore more places. Not just see them, but explore. There is a certain childlike feeling that comes from playing around in a new area. Getting splashed. Getting muddy. Turning over rocks to see whats underneath or how far you can skip them. But at some point it feels awkward to be an “adult” and still do these things. And I never felt fulfilled just showing up and looking at these beautiful places. Now I have a reason to play in these places again, and that’s why I love going to these places with people for their portraits.

Hayden Run Falls is a nifty little spot with easy access in Dublin, Ohio. It’s about a 30 foot waterfall that flows mostly year round, but heavier in the winter and spring. Even when it’s a little trickle in the summer, it’s still a beautiful spot with a nice cool pool for wading.

Mostly just a scenic view with an easy boardwalk to get to it, I have heard of people kayaking over the falls. Apparently it’s not a very deep pool, so you have to get your line just right. I have also heard of people ice climbing it when it freezes over in the winter. Unsure of the legality of either of these activities, I am going to stick with portrait sessions for now.

I have had quite a few different people reach out for sessions and ended up here. Personal Branding, Engagement, Prom, and Senior Sessions. These clients saw some of my photos and liked the easy access. And everyone has loved their photo sessions here. It’s a simple area to get to, and spending an hour in the deep ravine is a nice break from city life for awhile. Click below and we can go explore this little gem together. You might even get some nice photos while we are at it…
