Gina and Paul’s Wedding

When you find the right partner and the right piece of property, it just feels right to have your wedding day at home with your closest friends and family. Upon meeting Gina and Paul, I knew this day would be a lot of fun, and very special.

Having their Wedding at their own home was very important to both Paul and Gina. Paul’s family has a long lineage of carpentry in their blood, and Paul built this home himself. It was one of those homes that quickly makes you feel like you are part of the family.

Though it was a small wedding, they made it extremely personal. Full of backdrops and decorations that they had mostly made themselves, and included their “Best Dog” Luca in the ceremony.

At an intimate gathering like this, it’s often easy to feel intrusive with the camera. It was clear that everyone in the family was as excited to see each other as they were to support this marriage. But as I mentioned, these people made me feel like part of the family as soon as I arrived.

The whole family was present. Laughter and tears were abundant. And the ceremony was about to commence. A sense of pride and happiness was in the air as everyone took their seats.

As the photographer, the sense of focus really picks up at this point. Nothing stops for me, and I can’t miss any important moments. I have to move quickly, finding the right angles and lighting to tell the story and capture the emotion, all without getting in the way of Gina and Paul’s big day. And I love these special moments with the camera in my hand.

After hours of celebrating, eating wonderful polish food, and goofing off with family and friends, things ended up back where they had started.

Paul had proposed to Gina around a bonfire early on in their relationship, and now it was time to commemorate that. The rest of the evening was spent telling stories around the fire, and from my short time being around Gina and Paul, I can tell this fire will burn for endless nights to come.
